Abstract：Objective：To observe the therapeutic effect of“Pangwuzhen”acupoint catgut embedding therapy on postpartum weight retention. Methods：Ninety patients with postpartum weight retention were divided into the control group and the treatment group according to the random number table method， with 45 cases in each group. There were no cases dropped off in the control group， and three cases dropped off in the treatment group； 42 cases were involved in the statistical analysis. The control group adopted the principle of energy limit diet and made personalized caloric program；the treatment group was additionally treated with “Pangwuzhen”acupoint catgut embedding therapy based on the treatment of the control group. Both groups were treated once every two weeks，and treated for two courses，four times being one course. The clinical effects and adverse reactions in the two groups were compared. The changes of weight retention， body mass index(BMI)， waist circumference and waist- hip ratio were compared between the two groups before and after treatment. Results： After treatment， the weight retention， BMI，waist circumference and waist-hip ratio in the two groups were all decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)，and the above four indexes in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group(P＜0.05). After treatment， the total effective rate was 80.00% and 95.24% in the control group and the treatment group， respectively； the total effective rate in the treatment group was higher than that in the control group，the difference being significant(P＜0.05). During the treatment，there were no adverse reactions occurred in the two groups. Conclusion：“Pangwuzhen”acupoint catgut embedding therapy can improve postpartum weight retention， adjust the internal environment， and achieve an effect of weight loss.
