Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of Suhuang Tang combined with routine western medicine for cough variant asthma. Methods: A total of 80 cases of patients with cough variant asthma were selected and divided into the observation group and the control group according to the random number table method, with 40 cases in each group. The control group was treated with routine western medicine, and the observation group was additionally given oral administration of Suhuang Tang based on the treatment of the control group. The lung function, serum indexes and Chinese medicine syndrome scores at different time points in the two groups were compared. Results:After one and two weeks of treatment, the Chinese medicine syndrome scores in the two groups were gradually decreased(P<0.05), and the Chinese medicine syndrome scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group at the same time point(P<0.05). After one and two weeks of treatment, the levels of immunoglobulin E(IgE), interleukin- 5(IL- 5) and tumor necrosis factor- α(TNF- α) in serum in the two groups were gradually decreased(P<0.05),and the levels of interleukin-2(IL-2) and interferon-γ(IFN-γ) were gradually increased (P<0.05);the levels of IgE,IL-5 and TNF-α in serum in the observation group were lower and the levels of IL-2 and IFN-γ were higher than those in the control group at the same time point(P<0.05). After one and two weeks of treatment, the levels of peak expiratory flow(PEF), forced expiratory volume in one second(FEV1) and forced vital capacity(FVC) in the two groups were gradually increased(P<0.05),and the levels of PEF,FEV1 and FVC in the observation group were higher than those in the control group at the same time point(P<0.05). Conclusion: Suhuang Tang combined with routine western medicine has a significant curative effect in treating cough variant asthma, which can improve clinical symptoms, reduce inflammatory responses and enhance lung function.
