Abstract： Objective： To observe the effect of the therapy of Buyang Huanwu Tang combined with sitagliptin on glucose and lipid metabolism and level of serum inflammatory factors in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus complicated with metabolic syndrome. Methods ： A total of 80 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus complicated with metabolic syndrome were selected and divided into the control group and the observation group，according to the random number table method，with 40 cases in each group. The control group was treated with hypoglycemic therapy with metformin and sitagliptin， and the observation group was additionally treated with Buyang Huanwu Tang based on the treatment of the control group. Before and after treatment， the changes of levels of fasting blood glucose(FBG)， glycosylated hemoglobin(HbA1c)， homeostasis model ussessment of insulin resistance(HOMA- IR)， triglyceride(TG)， total cholesterol(TC)，high- density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL- C)，tumor necrosis factor- α(TNF- α) and interleukin-6(IL-6) were compared between the two groups. Results：After treatment，the levels of FBG， HbA1c， HOMA- IR， TC， TG， LDL- C， TNF- α and IL- 6 in the two groups were decreased when compared with those in the same group before treatment(P＜0.05)；after treatment，the above eight levels in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P＜0.05). Conclusion：The therapy of Buyang Huanwu Tang combined with sitagliptin for patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus complicated with metabolic syndrome has significant effects in improving the glucose and lipid metabolism and decreasing the levels of serum TNF-α and IL-6.
