Abstract： Objective： To observe the clinical effect of the therapy of Dahuang Mudan Tang assisting laparoscopic surgery on indirect inguinal hernia in children. Methods： A total of 110 children with indirect inguinal hernia undergoing laparoscopic surgery were divided into the observation group and the control group according to the random number table method，with 55 cases in each group. The control group was treated with laparoscopic surgery，and the observation group was additionally treated with Dahuang Mudan Tang based on the treatment of the control group. Before and after treatment， the levels of tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases- 1(TIMP-1)，TIMP-2，matrix metalloproteinase- 2(MMP- 2) and MMP-9 were compared between the two groups. The clinical effects and incidence of complications in the two groups were evaluated. Results：The total effective rate was 98.18% in the observation group and 94.55% in the control group，there being no significance in the difference between the two groups(P＞0.05). The incidence of complications was 1.82% in the observation group，lower than that of 12.73% in the control group， the difference being significant(P＜0.05). Before treatment， there was no significant difference being found in the comparisons of levels of TIMP- 1，TIMP- 2，MMP- 2 and MMP- 9 between the two groups(P＞0.05). After treatment， the levels of TIMP- 1， TIMP- 2， MMP- 2 and MMP- 9 in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)；the above four levels in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P＜0.05). Conclusion： The therapy of Dahuang Mudan Tang assisting laparoscopic surgery has a good curative effect on indirect inguinal hernia in children，which can reduce the incidence of complications and improve the collagen metabolism.
