Abstract：Prof. CUI Yun believes that seminal emission is closely related to the heart and kidney. He holds an opinion that heart blood insufficiency and heart-spleen deficiency lead to restless heart spirit and nocturnal emission；insecurity and deficiency of the kidney and the kidney fails to store the essence lead to the spontaneous seminal emission；insufficient kidney water and frenetic stirring heart fire lead to seminal emission. In Prof. CUI's opinion，dysfunction of the opening and closing of the essence chamber，which caused by the pathogens of fire- heat or dampness- heat moving along the channels and harassing the essence chamber and phlegm and stasis obstructing the essence chamber， is also a common cause of seminal emission，and should be attached great importance in clinical treatment. Therefore，the methods of enriching yin， supplementing the kidney， tranquilizing the heart and calming the mind are commonly adopted to ensure the essence stays in its position and to be stored and prevent spontaneous seminal emission. In clinical treatment， the modified Sancai Fengsui pellet is commonly used to treat seminal emission of the heart and kidney failing to interact type，the modified Guipi tang is used to treat the heartspleen deficiency type，and the modified Qingping prescription is used to treat the deficiency and insecurity of the kidney type. Prof. CUI has a flexible mind and the medicines he prescribed are simplified but accurate，so his experience should be regarded as a guidance in clinical treatment.
