Abstract： Objective： To observe the clinical effect of the therapy of total glucosides of paeony capsules combined with tripterygium wilfordii glycosides tablets on rheumatoid arthritis(RA). Methods： A total of 76 RA patients were randomly divided into the control group and the study group，with 38 in each group. All patients received methotrexate tablets， hydroxychloroquine sulfate tablets and other conventional treatment； the control group was additionally treated with tripterygium wilfordii glycosides tablets， and the study group was additionally treated with total glucosides of paeony capsules combined with tripterygium wilfordii glycosides tablets based on the treatment of the control group. Both groups were treated for eight weeks. The clinical effects in the two groups after treatment were observed，and the joint symptoms，the score of Health Assessment Questionnaire(HAQ)，the positive rate of anti-cyclic citrulline peptide(CCP) antibody， and the positive rate of rheumatoid factor(RF) before and after treatment were observed and compared. Results：The total effective rate was 94.7% in the study group and 76.3% in the control group， the difference being significant(P＜0.05). Before treatment， there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of the levels of joint symptoms， including tenderness， dysfunction，morning stiffness，swelling and pain between the two groups(P＞0.05). After treatment，the above indexes in the two groups were significantly lower than those before treatment(P＜0.05)， and the above indexes in the study group were lower than those in the control group(P＜0.05). Before treatment， there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of the HAQ scores between the two groups(P＞0.05). After treatment， the HAQ scores in both groups were significantly decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)， and the HAQ score in the study group was lower than that in the control group(P＜0.05). Before treatment，there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of the positive rates of anti- CCP antibody and RF between the two groups(P＞0.05). After treatment， the positive rates of anti- CCP antibody and RF in both groups were significantly decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)，and the positive rates of anti-CCP antibody and RF in the study group were lower than those in the control group(P＜0.05). Conclusion：The therapy of total glucosides of paeony capsules combined with tripterygium wilfordii glycosides tablets for RA，can improve the clinical total effective rate and quality of life，improve the joint symptoms of patients，and reduce the positive rate of RF and anti-CCP antibody.
