Abstract： Professor QUAN Renfu believes that the basic etiology and pathogenesis of ankylosing spondylitis are insufficiency of kidney yang and cold of governor vessel. According to the pathogenesis of ankylosing spondylitis， the treatment principles of tonifying the kidney， warming the governor vessel， unblocking the meridians and activating the collaterals are formulated，and better effect can be achieved by personalized treatment with modified Duhuo Jisheng tang.
