Abstract：Objective：To observe the curative effect of Lianhua Qingwen capsules on assisting chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD) and its influence on lung function and inflammatory factors. Methods：A total of 100 COPD patients were randomly divided into the control group and the observation group，with 50 cases in each group. The control group received conventional symptomatic treatment，and the treatment group was assisted with Lianhua Qingwen capsules based on the treatment of the control group. After seven days of treatment， the clinical effects in the two groups were evaluated， and the Chinese medicine syndrome scores， lung function and levels of inflammatory factors in the two groups were compared before and after treatment. Results：The total effective rate was 88.00% in the treatment group， higher than that of 72.00% in the control group(P＜0.05). When compared with those before treatment，the Chinese medicine syndrome scores and levels of serum interleukin-8(IL-8)，interleukin-17 (IL-17) and tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α) in both groups were decreased after treatment(P＜0.05). The percentage of forced expiratory volume in one second to predicted value(FEV1% ) and the percentage of forced vital capacity(FEV1/FVC) were increased(P＜0.05). When compared with those in the control group after treatment， the Chinese medicine syndrome score and the levels of IL- 8， IL- 17 and TNF- α were lower in the treatment group after treatment(P＜0.05)，and the levels of FEV1% and FEV1/FVC were higher in the treatment group(P＜0.05). Conclusion： Lianhua Qingwen capsules has a definite curative effect on assisting COPD，which is beneficial to alleviating clinical symptoms，improving lung function and inhibiting the release of inflammatory factors.
