Abstract：Objective：To observe the curative effect of the therapy of Bushen Huoxue tang combined with celecoxib capsules on knee osteoarthritis(KOA) and its effect on the scores of Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Arthritis Index(WOMAC) and 36-Item Short Form Health Survey(SF- 36). Methods： A total of 120 KOA patients were divided into two groups. The control group(60 cases) was given with celecoxib capsules，and the treatment group(60 cases) was given with Bushen Huoxue tang based on the treatment of the control group. The changes of scores of Lysholm scale for function of knee joint，Visual Analogue Scale(VAS)， WOMAC and SF- 36 and inflammatory markers were compared between the two groups， and the clinical effects and adverse reactions were compared in two groups. Results： The total effective rate was 96.67% in the treatment group，which was higher when compared with that of 85.00% in the control group(P＜0.05). The scores of WOMAC and VAS and levels of tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)， interleukin- 1β(IL- 1β) and interleukin- 6(IL- 6) in the two groups were decreased after treatment when compared with those in the same group before treatment(P＜0.05)，and the scores of SF-36 and Lysholm scale were increased(P＜0.05)； after treatment， the scores of WOMAC and VAS and levels of IL- 1β， TNF-α and IL-6 in treatment group were lower when compared with those in control group(P＜0.05)，and the scores of SF- 36 and Lysholm scale in the treatment group were higher(P＜0.05). Conclusion： The therapy of Bushen Huoxue tang combined with celecoxib capsules can improve the clinical effect on KOA， relieve the pain， improve the knee joint function and quality of life， and reduce the inflammatory responses，with good safety.
