Abstract:Objective:To observe the clinical effect of eight-section brocade in the adjuvant treatment of essential hypertension complicated with insomnia in senile patients. Methods: A total of 84 senile patients with essential hypertension complicated with insomnia were randomly divided into the control group and the study group, with 42 cases in each group. The control group was treated with western medicine according to the doctor's advice, and the study group did the eight-section brocade based on the treatment of the control group. Both groups were intervened for 12 weeks. The levels of blood pressure, including systolic blood pressure(SBP) and diastolic blood pressure(DBP), and the scores of Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI) were compared between the two groups before and after intervention, and the therapeutic effects on anti- hypertension and insomnia in the two groups were evaluated. Results: After intervention, the levels of SBP and DBP in both groups were decreased when compared with those before intervention(P<0.05),and the SBP and DBP levels in the study group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05). After intervention, the PSQI scores in both groups were decreased when compared with those before intervention(P<0.05), and the PSQI score in the study group was lower than that in the control group(P<0.05). After intervention, the PSQI score that was over seven points in the study group accounted for 26.19%,lower than that of 47.62% in the control group(P<0.05). The total effective rate on anti- hypertension in the study group was 90.48% , higher than that of 71.43% in the control group(P< 0.05). The total effective rate on insomnia in the study group was 88.10%,higher than that of 66.67% in the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion:Eight-section brocade can effectively control the blood pressure of senile patients with essential hypertension complicated with insomnia, and improve their sleep quality.
