Abstract： Objective： To observe the clinical effect of modified Pingdong tang combined with transcranial direct current stimulation(tDCS) for attention- deficit/hyperactivity disorder(ADHD) in children and its effect on neurotransmitter， attention and response inhibition. Methods： A total of 92 cases of ADHD children were selected and divided into the experiment group and the control group according to the random number table method，with 46 cases in each group. The control group was treated with tDCS，and the experiment group was additionally treated with modified Pingdong tang based on the treatment of the control group. The Chinese medicine syndrome scores， hyperactivity indexes， attention， response inhibition and neurotransmitter levels before and after treatment and the clinical effects in the two groups were compared. Results：After treatment，the total effective rate was 91.30% in the experiment group， higher than that of 76.09% in the control group(P＜0.05). After treatment，the Chinese medicine syndrome scores， hyperactivity indexes， error numbers and underreported numbers in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)，and the reaction time was shortened(P＜ 0.05)；the improvement in the above indexes in the experiment group was better than that in the control group(P＜0.05). After treatment，the color interference time and word interference time in the two groups were shortened when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)，and the above two indexes in the experiment group were shorter than those in the control group(P＜0.05). After treatment， the levels of norepinephrine(NE)， 5- hydroxytryptamine(5- HT) and dopamine(DA) in serum in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)， and the neurotransmitter levels in the experiment group were higher than those in the control group(P＜0.05). Conclusion： Modified Pingdong tang combined with tDCS has a definite curative effect in treating ADHD children， which can improve neurotransmitter levels，attention and response inhibition.
