Abstract：Objective：To observe the effect of the therapy of Huanglian Wendan tang combined with olanzapine tablets on social function and irrational beliefs of patients with first- episode schizophrenia. Methods： A total of 100 patients with first- episode schizophrenia were selected and divided into the control group and the observation group according to random number table，with 50 cases in each group. The control group was treated with olanzapine tablets，and the observation group was additionally treated with Huanglian Wendan tang based on the treatment of the control group. Both groups were treated for 12 weeks. The changes of Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale(PANSS) and social function， including Inpatient Psychiatric Rehabilitation Outcome Scale(IPROS) and Irrational Beliefs Scale(IBS) were compared before and after treatment. Results：After treatment，the PANSS scores in both groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment，differences being significant(P＜0.05). After treatment，the PANSS score in the observation group was lower than that in the control group， the difference being significant(P＜0.05). After treatment，the scores of condition of work therapy，living ability，social ability， hygiene ability，relationship and interest of IPROS and the total scores in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment，differences being significant(P＜0.05)；the five scores and the total score in the observation group were lower than those in the control group， differences being significant(P＜0.05). After treatment， the scores of low frustration tolerance， generalized comment and absolute requirement of IBS in the two groups were decreased when compared with before treatment， differences being significant(P＜0.05). After treatment，the IBS scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group， differences being significant(P＜0.05). Conclusion： The therapy of Huanglian Wendan tang combined with olanzapine tablets can significantly improve the symptoms of firstepisode schizophrenia patients，and effectively improve their social function and irrational beliefs.
