Abstract：Objective：To observe the clinical effect of the therapy of Xiefei Huoxue Huatan prescription combined with western medicine on acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD) with syndrome of phlegm-heat obstructing the lung complicated by stasis. Methods：A total of 105 patients with acute exacerbation of COPD with syndrome of phlegm-heat obstructing the lung complicated by stasis were selected and divided into the observation group(53 cases) and the control group(52 cases) by random number table method. The control group was treated with conventional western medicine， including tiotromine powder inhalation and Moxifloxacin hydrochloride tablets， and the observation group was additionally treated with Xiefei Huoxue Huatan prescription based on the treatment of the control group. Both groups were treated for seven days. The lung function，cellular immune function and inflammatory factors before and after treatment as well as the clinical effects were compared between the two groups. Results：The total effective rate was 92.45% in the observation group，higher than that of 71.15% in the control group(P＜0.05). After treatment，the lung function and cellular immune function indexes in both groups were improved than those before treatment(P＜0.05)； the lung function and cellular immune function indexes in the observation group were better than those in the control group(P＜0.05). After treatment，the levels of serum inflammatory factors in both groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)，and the levels of serum inflammatory factors in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P＜0.05). Conclusion：The therapy of Xiefei Huoxue Huatan prescription combined with western medicine has a significant effect on the treatment of acute exacerbation of COPD with syndrome of phlegm-heat obstructing the lung complicated by stasis，which helps improve the lung function of patients，enhance the immune function of the body，and reduce inflammation.
