Abstract:Objective:To observe the effects of the therapy of Tongqiao Huoxue tang combined with brain-awakening and orifices-opening acupuncture on nerve function,limb motor function,daily living ability and cerebral blood circulation in patients with ischemic stroke. Methods:A total of 100 patients with ischemic stroke were selected and randomly divided into the experiment group and the control group,with 50 patients in each group. The control group was treated with brain- awakening and orifices- opening acupuncture,and the experiment group was additionally treated with Tongqiao Huoxue tang based on the treatment of the control group. Both groups were treated for three courses,10 days being one course. The scores of National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale(NIHSS), Fugel- Meyer(FMA) and Barthel Index, anterior cerebral artery flow velocity(ACA),posterior cerebral artery flow velocity(PCA),middle cerebral artery flow velocity(MCA), and levels of serum S100B, neuron specific enolase(NSE) and glial fibrillary acidic protein factor(GFAP) were compared. Results:After treatment,the NIHSS scores in both groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05),and the scores of FMA and Barthel Index were increased(P<0.05). The NIHSS score in the experiment group was lower than that in the control group(P<0.05),and the scores of FMA and Barthel Index were higher(P<0.05). After treatment,ACA, PCA and MCA in both groups were increased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05), ACA,PCA and MCA in the experiment group were larger than those in the control group(P<0.05). After treatment,the levels of serum S100B,NSE and GFAP in both groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05),and the levels of serum S100B,NSE and GFAP in the experiment group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion:The therapy of Tongqiao Huoxue tang combined with brain-awakening and orifices-opening acupuncture can effectively improve the nerve function and cerebral blood circulation of patients with ischemic stroke,reduce the levels of brain injury markers,and enhance their limb motor function and daily living ability.
