Abstract: This paper introduces the clinical experience of Professor HAN Xue treating recurrent cough and asthma in children with classic combined prescriptions. Professor HAN holds that recurrent cough and asthma in children belongs to the syndrome of root deficiency and tip excess, with deficient healthy qi as the root and phlegm- stasis binding as the tip. Therefore, the basic methods throughout the treatment are warming yang to reinforce healthy qi, resolving phlegm and relieving cough, and dispelling stasis and unblocking collaterals. There are usually exterior syndromes during acute attack period,so it should not only warm and remove phlegm-rheum,and supplement the kidney for qi reception, but also diffuse the lung and release the exterior; in the remission period, retained phlegm and dark stasis may obstruct in the lung collaterals, so the regulation of the function of the lung, the spleen, and the kidney can be combined with methods of resolving phlegm, dispelling stasis, and unblocking collaterals. Classic prescriptions that are commonly used in combination in clinic are Xiaoqinglong tang and its similar prescriptions,Guizhi and Houpu Xingzi tang,Fuling Guizhi Baizhu Gancao tang, Mahuang Fuzi Xixin tang,Jinkui Shenqi pills, and Guizhi Fuling pills.
