Abstract： Objective： To observe the effect of Qingre Huoxue Zhitong tang on pain， swelling and joint function in patients with acute bone atrophy of damp-heat and stasis-stagnation type. Methods：A total of 82 patients with acute bone atrophy of damp- heat and stasis- stagnation type were randomly divided into the control group and the observation group， with 41 cases in each group. The control group was given conventional western medicine treatment， and the observation group was given Qingre Huoxue Zhitong tang based on the treatment of the control group. Both groups were treated for four weeks. The clinical symptoms and signs scores(pain， joint stiffness， tenderness and swelling)， joint function and the improvement of daily living activities before and after treatment and the clinical effects were compared between the two groups. Results： After treatment， the scores of pain， joint stiffness， tenderness and swelling in both groups were significantly decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)，and the scores in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group(P＜0.05). After treatment， the scores of joint function and daily living activity in both groups were significantly increased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)，and the scores in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group(P＜0.05). After treatment，the total effective rate was 90.2% in the observation group，significantly higher than that of 68.3% in the control group(P＜0.05). There were no adverse reactions in both groups. Conclusion： Qingre Huoxue Zhitong tang has a significant therapeutic effect on patients with acute bone atrophy of damp-heat and stasis-stagnation type，which can effectively relieve the symptoms of pain and swelling，promote the rehabilitation of joint function and improve joint activity.
