Clinical Study on Modified Danggui Sini Tang Combined with Acupuncture and McKenzie Method for Lumbar Disc Herniation of Blood Deficiency and Cold Con⁃ gealing Type
Abstract:Objective:To observe the clinical effect of the therapy of Danggui Sini tang combined with acupuncture and McKenzie method on lumbar disc herniation of blood deficiency and cold congealing type. Methods:A total of 60 patients with lumbar disc herniation of blood deficiency and cold congealing type were randomly divided into two groups, with 30 cases in each group. The control group was treated with McKenzie method; the treatment group was treated with the therapy of McKenzie method combined with modified Danggui Sini tang and acupuncture. Before treatment and two weeks after treatment, the scores of Visual Analogue Scale(VAS), Oswestry Disability Index(ODI) and Chinese medicine syndrome scores were evaluated. After two weeks of treatment, the olinical efficacy of the two groups was compared. Results:After two weeks of treatment, the scores of VAS, ODI and Chinese medicine syndromes in the two groups were significantly decreased when compared with those before treatment, differences being significant(P<0.05). The scores of VAS,ODI and Chinese medicine syndromes in the treatment group were decreased significantly when compared with those in the control group, differences being significant(P<0.05). The total effective rate was 93.3% in the treatment group, higher than that of 73.3% in the control group, the difference being significant(P<0.05). Conclusion:The therapy of modified Danggui Sini tang combined with acupuncture and McKenzie method and simple McKenzie method are both effective in the treatment of lumbar disc herniation of blood deficiency and cold congealing type, but the therapy of modified Danggui Sini tang combined with acupuncture and McKenzie method is superior to the simple McKenzie method, which can significantly improve the degree of pain and dysfunction of lumbar vertebra in patients with lumbar disc herniation of blood deficiency and cold congealing type.
