Abstract：Objective：To observe the curative effect of the therapy of Bailing capsules combined with western medicine on diabetic nephropathy(DN) and its influence on kidney function. Methods： A total of 98 DN patients were selected and divided into the treatment group and the control group according to random number table method，with 50 and 48 cases in each group respectively. Both groups were given conventional symptomatic treatment after admission. The control group was additionally given intravenous injection of alprostadil，and the treatment group was additionally given Bailing capsules based on the treatment of the control group. Both groups were treated for eight weeks. The clinical curative effects in the two groups were observed， and the changes of Chinese medicine syndrome scores， indexes of kidney function including serum creatinine(SCr)， blood urea nitrogen(BUN)， urinary albumin excretion rate(UARE)， and inflammatory factors including hypersensitive C-reactive protein(hs-CRP)，interleukin-6(IL-6)，tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α) before and after treatment were compared between the two groups. Results：The total effective rate was 92.00% in the treatment group，and 72.92% in the control group， the difference being significant(P＜0.05). After treatment， the Chinese medicine syndrome scores in both groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment，and the Chinese medicine syndrome score in the treatment group was lower than that in the control group，differences being significant(P＜0.05). After treatment，the levels of SCr， BUN and UARE in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment， and the above three levels in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group，differences being significant(P＜0.05). After treatment， the levels of hs- CRP， IL- 6 and TNF- α in both groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment，and the levels of the above three serum inflammatory factors in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group， differences being significant(P＜0.05). Conclusion： The therapy of Bailing capsules combined with western medicine can more effectively improve the clinical effect on DN patients than single application of western medicine，which can relieve the clinical symptoms of DN，reduce inflammation and protect kidney function.
