Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of Qingfei Tongfu tang combined with western medicine for acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(AECOPD). Methods:A total of 106 cases of AECOPD patients were selected and divided into the control group and the observation group according to the random number table method, with 53 cases in each group. The control group was given western medicine treatment, and the observation group was additionally treated with Qingfei Tongfu tang based on the treatment of the control group. Both groups were treated for two weeks. The clinical effects in the two groups were compared. Before and after treatment, the changes in Chinese medicine syndrome scores, lung function including forced vital capacity(FVC),forced expiratory volume in the first second(FEV1) and FEV1/FVC, blood gas analysis indexes including partial pressure of oxygen in arterial-blood(PaO2) and partial pressure of carbon dioxide in artery(PaCO2),serum inflammatory factors including interleukin-8(IL-8),C-reactive protein(CRP),8-iso-prostaglandinF2α (8-iso-PGF2α) and white blood cell counts(WBC) in the two groups were compared. The incidences of adverse reactions in the two groups were observed. Results:The total effective rate was 88.68% in the observation group, higher than that of 73.58% in the control group, the difference being significant(P<0.05). After treatment,Chinese medicine syndrome scores in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment, and the score in the observation group was lower than that in the control group, differences being significant(P<0.05). After treatment, the values of FVC,FEV1/FVC and PaO2 in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment, and the values of PaCO2 were decreased, differences being significant(P<0.05). After treatment, the values of FVC,FEV1/FVC and PaO2 in the observation group were higher than those in the control group, and the value of PaCO2 was lower, differences being significant(P<0.05). After treatment, the levels of IL-8,CRP,WBC and 8-iso-PGF2α in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment, and the above four levels in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, differences being significant(P<0.05). There was no obvious adverse reaction in the two groups, and all examinations were normal. Conclusion:The therapy of Qingfei Tongfu tang combined with western medicine has a significant curative effect in the treatment of AECOPD, which can effectively improve clinical symptoms, lung function and pulmonary inflammation, with high medication safety.
