Abstract：Objective：To observe the clinical effect of the combination of acupuncture and Chinese massage based on the method of unblocking sinews and diffusing impediment on scapulohumeral periarthritis at acute pain stage. Methods： Patients with scapulohumeral periarthritis at acute pain stage were selected and divided into two groups，with 30 cases in each group. The treatment group was treated with acupuncture and Chinese massage based on the method of unblocking sinews and diffusing impediment three times a week for two weeks. The control group was treated with shoulder soft tissue closure once a week for two weeks. The shoulder function and pain were respectively observed by Constant Murley(CM) and Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) one week and two weeks after treatment，and the clinical effects were compared between the two groups. Results：A total of 53 patients were included in the statistics due to loss of follow-up，including 25 patients in the treatment group and 28 patients in the control group. Compared with those before treatment，the CM scores of shoulder joint function and VAS scores of pain in both groups were changed to varying degrees after two weeks of treatment， differences being significant(P＜0.05). After one week of treatment， the improvement of shoulder function and pain in the treatment group was less significant than that in the control group， differences being significant(P＜0.05). However， after two weeks of treatment，there was no significant difference in the scores of CM and VAS between the two groups(P＞0.05). The total effective rate was 76.00% in the treatment group and 85.71% in the control group， there being no significant difference between the two groups(P＞0.05). Conclusion：The combination of acupuncture and Chinese massage based on the method of unblocking sinews and diffusing impediment for scapulohumeral periarthritis at acute pain stage， can effectively relieve the pain of shoulder and improve the function of shoulder joint，whose clinical effect is equivalent to that of closed therapy.
