Abstract：Objective： To observe the clinical effect of the therapy of electroacupuncture combined with moxibustion on ginger on the treatment of postpartum urinary retention(PUR). Methods： A total of 120 PUR patients were selected and divided into the control group and the observation group according to different treatment method， with 60 cases in each group. Both groups were undergone perineum flushing with warm water，vulva fumigating with hot water，listening to the sound of running water and other conventional treatments. The control group was additionally treated with Kaisailu enema， and the observation group was additionally treated with electroacupuncture combined with moxibustion on ginger based on the treatment of the control group. Both groups were treated for three days. Bladder residual urine volume and quality of life were compared between the two groups before and after treatment. The clinical effects and the time of first spontaneous urination were compared between the two groups. Results： After treatment， the bladder residual urine volume in both groups was decreased when compared with that before treatment(P＜0.05)，and the volume in the observation group was smaller than that in the control group(P＜0.05). The total effective rate was 93.33% in the observation group，higher than that of 80.00% in the control group(P＜0.05). After treatment， the scores of physiology， psychology， social relationship and environment in both groups were increased when compared with those before treatment (P＜0.05)，and the above scores in the observation group were higher than those in the control group(P＜0.05). The time of first spontaneous urination in the observation group was shorter than that in the control group(P＜0.05). Conclusion： The therapy of electroacupuncture combined with moxibustion on ginger for PUR can effectively promote urination and improve the quality of life of patients.
