Abstract:Objective:To observe the clinical effect of external application with Tianluo prescription at Shenque(RN8) for patients with advanced cancer complicated with incomplete intestinal obstruction. Methods:A total of 60 cases of patients with advanced cancer complicated with incomplete intestinal obstruction who met the inclusion criteria were randomly divided into two groups according to the random number table method, with 30 cases in each group. The control group was given water deprivation, gastrointestinal decompression, cleaning enema and other routine treatments; the observation group was additionally treated with external application with Tianluo prescription at Shenque(RN8) based on the treatment of the control group. Before and after treatment, scores of abdominal distension, nausea and vomiting, the recovery time of anal exsufflation, clinical effects, and the local skin situation after external application were observed and compared between the two groups. Results: Scores of abdominal distention and pain, as well as nausea and vomiting in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment, and the decrease in the observation group was larger than that in the control group, differences being significant(P<0.05). The average recovery time of anal exsufflation was 3.42±3.05 hours in the observation group, and 11.07±3.58 hours in the control group. The recovery time of anal exsufflation in the observation group was significantly shorter than that in the control group, the difference being significant(P<0.05). The total effective rate was 80.00% in the observation group and 46.67% in the control group, the difference being significant(P<0.05). One case who received external application showed redness of local skin after one course of treatment, without swelling, pain, blistering, pruritus, rash or other discomforts;other patients had no change in local skin and no obvious discomfort after external application. Conclusion:External application with Tianluo prescription at Shenque(RN8) can improve clinical effects and quality of life of patients with incomplete intestinal obstruction, without any obvious adverse reaction.
