Abstract： Objective： To observe the clinical effect of modified Lingpi Chushi Xuanbi prescription combined with wax treatment for knee joint synovitis. Methods：A total of 100 cases of patients with knee joint synovitis were randomly divided into the control group and the observation group，with 50 cases in each group. The control group was treated with diclofenac diethylamine emulsion， and the observation group was treated with modified Lingpi Chushi Xuanbi prescription combined with wax treatment. Both groups were treated for eight weeks. The clinical effect in the two groups was compared. Before and after treatment， the scores of symptom， visual analogue scale and Western Ontario and Mcmaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index(WOMAC) as well as the levels of C- reactive protein(CRP) and erythrocyte sedimentation rate(ESR). Results：The total effective rate was 86.00% in the observation group，higher than that of 72.00% in the control group(P＜ 0.05). After treatment， the scores of joint pain， joint swelling， movement disorder and lower limb weakness in the two groups were lower than those before treatment (P＜0.05)， and the scores of the above four symptoms in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P＜0.05). After treatment， the VAS and WOMAC scores of the two groups were lower than those before treatment (P＜0.05)， and the VAS and WOMAC scores in the observation group were lower than those of the control group(P＜0.05). After treatment，the levels of CRP and ESR in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)，and the levels of CRP and ESR in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P＜0.05). Conclusion： Modified Lingpi Chushi Xuanbi prescription combined with wax treatment has a good curative effect in treating knee joint synovitis，which can relieve symptoms of pain in the knee joint，improve knee joint function and control inflammatory responses.
