Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of Naoxintong capsules combined with paroxetine for post- stroke depression(PSD). Methods: A total of 85 cases of PSD patients were selected as retrospective study objects, and were divided into the observation group and the control group according to different treatment methods,with 43 and 42 cases in each group respectively. The control group was treated with paroxetine, and the observation group was treated with paroxetine combined with Naoxintong capsules. The degrees of depression in the two groups were evaluated by Hamilton Depression Scale(HAMD). Before and after treatment,the levels of estradiol(E2),homocysteine(Hcy),interleukin-23(IL-23), interleukin- 10(IL- 10) and tumor necrosis factor- α(TNF- α) in serum in the two groups were detected. Results: Before treatment,there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of HAMD scores between the two groups(P> 0.05). After one,four and eight weeks of treatment respectively,HAMD scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group,the difference being significant(P<0.05). Before treatment,there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of the levels of Hcy and E2 between the two groups(P>0.05). After treatment,Hcy level in the observation group was lower than that in the control group,and E2 level was higher,differences being significant(P<0.05). Before treatment,there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of the levels of IL-23,IL-10 and TNF-α between the two groups(P>0.05). After treatment,the levels of IL- 23,IL- 10 and TNF- α in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, the difference being significant(P<0.05). Conclusion: The therapy of Naoxintong capsules combined with paroxetine for PSD can effectively regulate the levels of Hcy and E2 in serum,reduce inflammatory responses,and significantly improve the depressive state of patients.
