Abstract:Objective:To observe the clinical effect of Maxing Shigan tang combined with routine western medicine for senile pulmonary infection. Methods: A total of 80 cases of senile patients with pulmonary infection were selected for retrospective study, and were divided into the observation group and the control group according to different treatment medications, with 40 cases in each group. The control group was treated with routine western medicine treatment including dissolve phlegm, relieve panting and anti bacterial, and the observation group was additionally treated with Maxing Shigan tang based on the treatment of the control group. Results: The total effective rate was 95.0% in the observation group, higher than that of 77.5% in the control group, the difference being significant(P<0.05). Before treatment, there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of the levels of tumor necrosis factor- α (TNF- α), C- reactive protein (CRP) and procalcitonin(PCT) in serum between the two groups(P>0.05). After treatment, the above indexes in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05),and all the indexes in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05). Before treatment, there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of the proportions of partial pressure of blood oxygen(PaO2),forced expiratory volume in the first second(FEV1) and vital capacity(FVC) in the predicted value between the two groups (P>0.05). After treatment, the above indexes of lung function in the two groups were increased at different degrees when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05),and all the indexes in the observation group were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion:Based on routine western medicine treatment, the additional application of Maxing Shigan tang for senile pulmonary infection can significantly improve the inflammatory responses of the body and the lung function of patients, with a satisfactory clinical effect.
