Abstract： Objective： To observe the clinical effect of the therapy of Wuling capsules combined with paroxetine hydrochloride tablets on menopausal depression. Methods：A total of 100 patients with menopausal depression were divided into the study group and the control group according to the random number table method，with 50 cases in each group. The control group was treated with paroxetine hydochloride tablets， and the study group was additionally treated with Wuling capsules based on the treatment of the control group. The clinical effects，scores of Hamilton Rating Scale for Depression (HAMD)，sleep quality，estrogen levels and adverse reactions in the two groups were compared. Results：The total clinical effective rate in the study group was better than that in the control group， the difference being significant(χ 2=4.762， P= 0.029). After treatment， the scores of HAMD and PSQI in both groups were lower than those before treatment(P＜0.05)； after treatment，the above scores in the study group were lower than those in the control group(P＜0.05). After treatment， the levels of luteinizing hormone(LH) and serum follicle stimulating hormone(FSH) in the two groups were lower than those before treatment， and the estradiol(E2) level was higher(P＜0.05)； after treatment， the levels of LH and FSH in the study group were lower than those in the control group， and the E2 level was higher(P＜0.05). The total incidence of adverse reactions was 8.00% in the study group，lower than that of 20.00% in the control group(χ 2=4.332，P=0.037). Conclusion： The therapy of Wuling capsules combined with paroxetine hydrochloride tablets for menopausal depression has a significant clinical effect， which can lessen the degree of depression， improve the sleep quality， effectively regulate the estrogen levels，and reduce the adverse reactions.
