Abstract： Objective： To observe the curative effect of Shenqi Jiangtang pills combined with metformin for type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM) and its effects on blood lipid and blood glucose. Methods： Clinical data of 106 cases of T2DM patients were selected retrospectively， and all patients were divided into the control group and the observation group according to different treatment methods，with 53 cases in each group. Both groups were given guidance on diabetes diet and exercise to lower blood glucose；the control group was additionally treated with metformin hydrochloride tablets，and the observation group was additionally treated with Shenqi Jiangtang pills based on the treatment of the control group. Chinese medicine syndrome scores and levels of blood lipid and blood glucose before and after treatment were observed in the two groups. Clinical effects and incidence of adverse reactions were counted. Results： The total effective rate was 92.45% in the observation group，higher than that of 79.25% in the control group，the difference being significant(P＜0.05). After treatment，Chinese medicine syndrome scores of fatigue and lack of strength，shortness of breath and disinclination to talk，dry mouth with desire for drink，palpitations，insomnia and profuse dreaming，and pale red tongue in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment， and each Chinese medicine syndrome score in the observation group was lower than that in the control group(P＜0.05). After treatment，levels of fasting blood glucose(FBG)， 2- hour postprandial blood glucose(P2hBG)， hemoglobin A1c(HbA1c)， total cholesterol(TC)， triglyceride(TG)， and lowdensity lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C) in the two groups were lower than those before treatment，and the above six levels in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P＜0.05). After treatment，levels of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C) in the two groups were higher than those before treatment，and the level in the observation group was higher than that in the control group(P＜0.05). The incidence of adverse reactions was 5.66% in the observation group，lower than that of 16.98% in the control group， the difference being significant(P＜0.05). Conclusion： Shenqi Jiangtang pills combined with metformin has a significant curative effect in the treatment of T2DM，and it can improve clinical symptoms， regulate blood glucose and lipid，and reduce the incidence of adverse reactions.
