Abstract： Objective： To observe the clinical effect of Jiuwei Zhenxin granules combined with escitalopram oxalate for senile anxiety. Methods： A total of 212 cases of patients with senile anxiety were enrolled into a retrospective study and divided into the observation group and the control group according to different treatment measures，with 106 in each group. The control group was treated with escitalopram oxalate， and the observation group was additionally treated with Jiuwei Zhenxin granules based on the treatment of the control group. After one-month treatment ， levels of dopamine(DA) ， 5- hydroxytryptamine(5- HT) and norepinephrine(NE) in serum and scores of Hamilton Anxiety Scale(HAMA) were compared between the two groups； adverse reactions during treatment were observed. Results： Before treatment， there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of levels of DA，NE and 5- HT in serum between the two groups(P＜ 0.05). After treatment，levels of DA，NE and 5-HT in serum in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment， and each index in the observation group was lower than that in the control group(P＜0.05). Before treatment，there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of HAMA scores between the two groups(P＜ 0.05). After treatment for one， two， three， and four weeks， HAMA scores in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment， and scores in each period in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P＜0.05). During treatment， the total incidence of adverse reactions was 5.7% in the observation group and 29.2% in the control group， there being significance in the difference(P＜0.05). Conclusion： Jiuwei Zhenxin granules combined with escitalopram oxalate for anxiety can significantly improve anxiety symptoms and related neurotransmitter levels of the senile，with few adverse reactions.
