Abstract：Objective：To observe the curative effect of Huangqin mouthwash in oral protection of patients after operation for rhinopharynx in Ear-nose-throat Department. Methods：A total of 348 cases of patients after operation for rhinopharynx in Ear- nose- throat Department of Zhejiang Integrated Traditional and Western Medicine Hospital were selected as the study subjects and divided into the control group and the observation group according to the random number table method，with 116 and 232 cases in each group respectively. The control group was given sterile physiological saline for routine oral care after operation for rhinopharynx， and the obsrevation group was given Huanqin mouthwash for oral nursing. Both groups were treated for one week. Before and after treatment， the pain indexes of Numeric Rating Scale(NRS)， the oral conditions including oral odor， mouth ulcer and gingival bleeding， and the incidence of stomatitis in the two groups were compared. Results：After treatment，the NRS scores in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P＜0.05)，and the NRS score in the observation group was lower than that in the control group，differences being significant (P＜0.05). After treatment，the cases of oral odor，mouth ulcer and gingival bleeding were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)； and the proportion of above cases in the observation group was lower than that in the control group，differences being significant(P＜0.05). After operation，there were 146 cases of patients with stomatitis in the observation group and 73 cases in the control group. After treatment， the cases of stomatitis in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment， differences being significant(P＜0.05)； the above indexes in the observation group were lower than those in the control group，differences being significant(P＜0.05). Conclusion：Huangqin mouthwash in oral protection of patients after operation for rhinopharynx in Ear-nose-throat Department can achieve an ideal curative effect，and is helpful to prevent the occurrence of diseases in the mouth，improve oral environment and relieve pain.
