Abstract:Objective:To observe the clinical effect of Bushen Huoxue tang assisted percutaneous kyphoplasty(PKP) on the treatment of senile osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures(OVCF). Methods: A total of 80 elderly patients with OVCF were selected and divided into the control group and the observation group according to random number table method, with 40 cases in each group. The control group received PKP,and the observation group received PKP combined with Bushen Huoxue tang for treatment. The clinical effect, incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups after treatment, and the lumbar pain, lumbar function, vertebral height, kyphosis angle and T value of bone mineral density were compared between the two groups before and after treatment. Results:The total effective rate was 90.00% in observation group, higher than that of 65.00% in the control group(P<0.05). Compared with those before surgery, the scores of Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) and Oswestry Disability Index(ODI) in both groups were decreased six weeks after surgery(P<0.05); vertebral height and T values of bone mineral density were increased(P<0.05),and kyphosis angle was decreased(P<0.05). Compared with those in the control group six weeks after surgery,VAS and ODI scores were lower in the observation group six weeks after surgery(P<0.05);the vertebral height and T values of bone mineral density were larger(P<0.05),and the kyphosis angle was smaller(P<0.05). There were no obvious adverse reactions in both groups. Conclusion:The therapy of Bushen Huoxue tang assisted PKP has definite effect on the treatment of senile OVCF, which can effectively relieve postoperative lumbar pain, enhance bone mineral density and improve lumbar function, with high safety.
