Abstract： Objective： To observe the effect of Shugan Jianpi Huoxue prescription on related factors of portal vein thrombosis(PVT) after splenectomy. Methods： A total of 105 cases of patients who had portal hypertension and received splenectomy were selected and randomly divided into the study group and the control group，with 53 and 52 cases in each group respectively. Both groups were treated with aspirin since the 3rd day after the surgery，and the study group was given the oral administration of Shugan Jianpi Huoxue prescription from the 3rd day before the surgery. The course of treatement of the two groups was 14 days after the surgery. The levels of P- selectin and matrix metalloproteinase- 9(MMP- 9) and the activity of antithrombin Ⅲ(AT-Ⅲ) at different time points during perioperative period(before the surgery，on the 3rd，the 7th and the 14th day after the surgery) were observed and compared. Results：On the 3rd and the 7th day after the surgery，Pselectin levels in the two groups were increased when compared with those at the previous time point(P＜0.05)；on the 14th day after the surgery，the levels in the two groups were decreased when compared with those on the 7th day after the surgery (P＜0.05)；on the 7th and the 14th day after the surgery，the level in the study group was significantly lower than that in the control group(P＜0.05). On the 3rd and the 7th day after the surgery，MMP-9 levels in the two groups were increased when compared with those at the previous time point(P＜0.05)；on the 14th day after the surgery，the MMP- 9 levels in the two groups were decreased when compared with those on the 7th day after the surgery(P＜0.05)；on the 7th and the 14th day after the surgery，the level in the study group was significantly lower than that in the control group(P＜0.05). On the 3rd，the 7th and the 14th day after the surgery， the level of AT- Ⅲ in the two groups was decreased when compared with that before the surgery(P＜0.05)；and the level of AT-Ⅲ in the study group was significantly higher than that in the control group at each time point after operation(P＜0.05). Conclusion：Shugan Jianpi Huoxue prescription has a certain inhibitory effect on the levels of P-selectin and MMP-9 which are related factors of portal vein thrombosis after splenectomy，and is helpful to the recovery of AT-III activity.
