Abstract：Objective：To observe the clinical effect of modified Zhixuan tang for vertigo after stroke. Methods：A total of 60 cases of patients with vertigo after stroke were divided into the treatment group and the control group according to the random number table method，with 30 cases in each group. Both groups were given basic treatment；the control group was additionally treated with betahistine hydrochloride tablets， and the treatment group was additionally treated with modified Zhixuan tang based on the treatment of the control group. The scores of Dizziness Handicap Inventory(DHI)，WOLF Motor Function Test(WMFT)， Berg Balance Scale(BBS) and Functional independent measurement scale(FIM) before and after treatment as well as the clinical effects after treatment in the two groups were compared. Results：The total effective rate was 93.33% in the treatment group，significantly higher than that of 70.00% in the control group(P＜0.05). After treatment， the all grades and total scores of DHI in the two groups were decreased(P＜0.05)，and the scores of WMFT，BBS and FIM were increased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)；and the all grades and total scores of DHI were lower than those in the control group(P＜0.05)，and the scores of WMFT，BBS and FIM in the treatment group were higher (P＜ 0.05). Conclusion： Modified Zhixuan tang combined with betahistine hydrochloride tablets can effectively improve clinical effect of patients with vertigo after stroke， and enhance their symptom of vertigo， motor function， balance ability and functional independence.
