Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of Chinese herbal fumigation combined with acupuncture for knee medial collateral ligament injury. Methods:A total of 102 cases of patients with knee medial collateral ligament injury were selected and divided into the treatment group and the control group according to the random number table method, with 52 and 50 cases in each group respectively. The control group was simply treated with acupuncture, and the treatment group was additionally treated with Chinese herbal fumigation based on the treatment of the control group. Both groups were treated for two courses, with 10 days being a course. The clinical effects, pain degree, knee joint function and activity in the two groups were observed and compared. Results:The total effective rate was 92.31% in the treatment group and 76.00% in the control group, the difference being significant(P<0.05). Before treatment, there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of the scores of Lysholm knee joint function and pain in Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) between the two groups (P>0.05). After treatment,Lysholm knee joint function scores in the two groups were significantly increased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05), and VAS scores were significantly decreased(P<0.05); the Lysholm knee joint function score in the treatment group was higher than that in the control group(P<0.05),and the VAS score in the treatment group was lower(P<0.05). Before treatment, there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of the degrees of straightness, flexion and arc of flexion and extension between the two groups(P>0.05). After treatment, the degrees of straightness, flexion and arc of flexion and extension in the two groups were significantly increased when compared with those before treatment, and the degrees in the treatment group were greater than those in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion:The therapy of Chinese herbal fumigation combined with acupuncture has a significant curative effect in treating knee medial collateral ligament injury, which can effectively relieve pain and improve the function and activity of knee joint.
