Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of Huangkui capsules combined with acarbose for diabetic nephropathy and its effect on sucrose metabolism and renal fibrosis. Methods:A total of 189 cases of patients with diabetic nephropathy were divided into the study group and the control group according to the random number table method,with 95 cases and 94 cases in each group respectively. All patients received the same basic treatment and their blood pressure were controlled. The control group was additionally treated with oral administration of acarbose, and the study group was additionally treated with Huangkui capsules based on the treatment of the control group. Both groups were treated for eight weeks. The clinical effects in the two groups were analyzed and compared. Before and after treatment,the levels of indexes of sucrose metabolism , such as fasting blood glucose(FBG) , 2-h postprandial blood glucose(P2hBG) and glycosylated hemoglobin A1c(HbA1c),indexes of the kidney function such as serum creatinine(SCr),serum uric acid(UA) and blood urea nitrogen(BUN),as well as indexes of renal fibrosis such as serum transforming growth factor-β1(TGF-β1) and tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases-1(TIMP-1) were detected. Results:After treatment,the clinical effect in the study group was better than that in the control group, the difference being significant(P<0.05). Before treatment, there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of levels of FBG, P2hBG, HbA1c, SCr, UA, BUN, TGF- β1 and TIMP- 1 between the two groups(P>0.05);after treatment,the above levels in both groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05), and the above levels in the study group were lower than those in the control group(P< 0.05). Conclusion:Huangkui capsules combined with acarbose has a definite effect on patients with diabetic nephropathy, which can effectively reduce renal fibrosis indexes as well as improve glucose metabolism and the kidney function.
