Abstract： Objective： To observe the clinical effect of modified Longdan Xiegan tang combined with blood- letting puncture therapy for herpes zoster. Methods：A total of 120 cases of patients with herpes zoster were selected and divided into the observation group and the control group according to the random number method，with 60 cases in each group. The control group was given the oral administration of loratadine tablets combined with external application of mometasone furoate cream，and the observation group was given the oral administration of modified Longdan Xiegan tang combined with bloodletting puncture therapy. Both groups were treated for two courses， with two weeks being a course. Before and after treatment，the levels of tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)，immunoglobulin E(IgE)，interleukin-12(IL-12) and T cell subsets including CD3+，CD4+ and CD8+ in the two groups were observed and compared. Results：The total effective rate was 100% in the observation group and 93.33% in the control group，the difference being significant(P＜0.05). Before treatment，there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of the levels of TNF-α，IgE and IL-12 between the two groups (P＞0.05). After treatment，the levels of TNF-α and IgE in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)， and the levels of IL- 12 were increased(P＜0.05)； the improvement of the above indexes in the observation group was more significant than that in the control group(P＜0.05). Before treatment，there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of the levels of CD3 + ， CD4 + and CD8 + between the two groups(P＞0.05). After treatment，the levels of CD3+ and CD4+ in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment(P＜ 0.05)，and the levels of CD8+ were decreased(P＜0.05)；the improvement of each index in the observation group was more significant than that in the control group(P＜0.05). Conclusion：Modified Longdan Xiegan tang combined with blood- letting puncture therapy for herpes zoster has a definite curative effect，and can effectively improve the immune function of the body and control the inflammatory response，thus improving the condition.
