Abstract： Objective： To observe the effect of Tianma Gouteng yin combined with western medicine on levels of homocysteine(Hcy) and asymmetric dimethylarginine(ADMA) in plasma in patients with H- type hypertension. Methods： A total of 120 cases of patients with H- type hypertension were divided into the observation group and the control group according to the random number table method，with 60 cases in each group. The control group was given routine treatment regiment for H- type hypertension and oral administration of valsartan amlodipine tablets and folic acid tablets， and the observation group was additionally treated with Tianma Gouteng yin based on the treatment of the control group. Both groups were treated for six weeks. The clinical effects in the two groups were observed. Before and after treatment，the changes in Chinese medicine syndrome scores，ambulatory blood pressure，and levels of Hcy and ADMA in plasma in the two groups were compared. Results：After treatment，Chinese medicine syndrome scores，systolic pressure and diastolic pressure in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment， and the above three indexes in the observation group were lower than those in the control group，differences being significant(P＜0.05). After treatment，the levels of Hcy and ADMA in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment，and the above two levels in the observation group were lower than those in the control group， differences being significant(P＜0.05). After treatment，the total effective rate was 95.00% in the observation group，higher than that of 81.67% in the control group， the difference being significant(P＜0.05). Conclusion： Tianma Gouteng yin combined with western medicine for H- type hypertension can effectively relieve symptoms including headache and dizziness，decrease blood pressure，and reduce the risk of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases.
