Abstract：Objectives：To observe the effect of hot compress package with mirabilite on abdomen on intestinal function and quality of life of patients with severe acute pancreatitis. Methods： A total of 100 cases of patients with severe acute pancreatitis were divided into the observation group and the control group according to the random number table method， with 50 cases in each group. Both groups were given symptomatic treatment such as gastrointestinal decompression，fluid resuscitation， and improvement of microcirculation. The control group was additionally given the intervention of external application of mirabilite on abdomen，and the observation group was additionally given the intervention of external application of self- made hot package compress with mirabilite on abdomen. Both groups were intervened for seven days. The intraabdominal pressure and quality of life before and after intervention as well as the clinical effect in the two groups were compared. Results：The total effective rate was 96.00% in the observation group，higher than that of 82.00% in the control group(P＜0.05). After intervention，the intra-abdominal pressure in the two groups was decreased when compared with that before intervention(P＜0.01)，and the intra- abdominal pressure in the observation group was lower than that in the control group(P＜0.01)；the scores of general health status，physiological role，physiological function，social function，bodily pain， energy， mental health and emotional function in the two groups were increased when compared with those before intervention(P＜0.01)，and the above scores in the observation group were higher than those in the control group(P＜0.01). Conclusion：The hot compress package with mirabilite on abdomen can reduce the intra-abdominal pressure of patients with severe acute pancreatitis，promote the recovery of intestinal function，and improve the quality of life.
