Abstract： Objective： To observe the clinical effect of oral administration of Danhu Tongbi tang and point application combined with routine therapy for primary hypertension. Methods：A total of 112 cases of patients with primary hypertension of deficiency of both qi and yin combined with heart vessel stasis obstruction type were divided into the control group and the observation group according to the random number table method，56 cases in each group. Both groups were treated with corresponding antihypertensive drug based on their disease condition，and intervened with routine nursing measures，and the observation group was additionally treated with oral administration of Danhu Tongbi tang combined with point application. Both groups were treated for four weeks. Before treatment and after four-week treatment，the changes in blood pressure， blood pressure variability and main symptoms of deficiency of both qi and yin combined with heart vessel stasis obstruction syndrome in the two groups were observed. The clinical effect in the two groups was compared. Results：After four-week treatment，the total effective rate of clinical effect in the observation group was higher than that in the control group(P＜0.05). The systolic pressure and diastolic pressure in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P＜0.01)，and the systolic pressure and diastolic pressure in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P＜0.01). The 24- hour diastolic blood pressure coefficient of variability and 24- hour systolic blood pressure coefficient of variability in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.01)， and the 24- hour diastolic blood pressure coefficient of variability and 24-hour systolic blood pressure coefficient of variability in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P＜0.01). The scores of vertigo，shortness of breath and fatigue，dry mouth and vexation and headache with pricking at certain points in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.01)，and the above four symptom scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P＜0.01). Conclusion：Based on routine therapy，the application of Danhu Tongbi tang combined with point application for primary hypertension of deficiency of both qi and yin combined with heart vessel stasis obstruction type has significant curative effect，and can effectively relieve symptoms and exert good antihypertensive effect.
