Abstract： Objectives： To observe the clinical effect of Shenqi Jiangtang granules combined with sitagliptin phosphate tablets for type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM) complicated with metabolic syndrome(MS). Methods： A total of 82 cases of patients with T2DM complicated with MS were divided into the treatment group and the control group according to the oddeven grouping method， with 41 cases in each group. Both groups received routine treatment after admission. The control group was additionally treated with sitagliptin phosphate tablets，and the treatment group was treated with Shenqi Jiangtang granules combined with sitagliptin phosphate tablets. Both groups were treated for 6 months. The clinical effects，incidence of adverse reactions，as well as the blood glucose levels and islet β cell function indexes before and after treatment in the two groups were compared. Results：The total effective rate was 92.68% in the treatment group，higher than that of 70.73% in the control group(P＜0.05). After treatment， the levels of fasting blood glucose(FBG)， postprandial 2- hour blood glucose (P2hBG)，glycosylated hemoglobin(HbA1c)，and fasting insulin(FINS) as well as homeostasis model assessment-IR(HOMAIR) in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)， and the above levels and HOMA-IR in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group(P＜0.05)；homeostasis model assessment- β (HOMA- β) in the two groups was increased when compared with that before treatment(P＜0.05)， and HOMA- β in the treatment group was higher than that in the control group(P＜0.05). The incidence of adverse reactions was 4.88% in the treatment group，lower than that of 26.83% in the control group(P＜0.05). Conclusion：Shenqi Jiangtang granules combined with sitagliptin phosphate tablets for T2DM complicated with MS can improve the clinical effect，effectively control the blood glucose level of patients，and regulate the function of islet β cells，with good safety.
