Abstract： Objective： To observe the clinical effect of compound Haishe capsules combined with memantine hydrochloride tablets for Alzheimer disease(AD). Methods：A total of 78 cases of AD patients were selected and divided into the treatment group and the control group according to the random number table method，with 40 and 38 cases in each group respectively. The control group was treated with memantine hydrochloride tablets，and the treatment group was additionally treated with compound Haishe capsules based on the treatment of the control group. Both groups were treated for 12 weeks. The clinical effects in the two groups were compared. Before and after treatment， the scores of Chinese medicine syndromes，Mini-Mental State Examination(MMSE) and Neuropsychiatric Inventory(NPI) in the two groups were compared. Results：The total effective rate was 82.50% in the treatment group，higher than that of 60.53% in the control group(P＜ 0.05). After treatment， the scores of Chinese medicine syndromes and NPI in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)，and the above scores in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group(P＜0.05)；MMSE scores in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment(P＜ 0.05)，and the score in the treatment group was higher than that in the control group(P＜0.05). Conclusion：The therapy of compound Haishe capsules combined with memantine hydrochloride tablets for AD can enhance the clinical effect， and effectively improve the Chinese medicine syndromes， cognitive function and behavioral and psychological symptoms of patients.
