Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of warm acupuncture and moxibustion for myofascitis of nape of wind-cold-dampness type. Methods:A total of 117 cases of patients with myofascitis of nape of wind-cold-dampness type were selected and divided into the observation group and the control group according to the random number table method, 59 and 58 cases in each group respectively. The control group was treated with acupuncture only, and the observation group was additionally treated with warm acupuncture and moxibustion based on the treatment of the control group. The clinical effect was compared between the two groups. Before and after treatment, dysfunction score, tenderness score and score of pain in Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) were compared between the two groups. Results: The total clinical effective rate was 93.22% in the observation group and 72.41% in the control group , the difference being significant(P < 0.05). Before treatment, there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of dysfunction scores between the two groups(P>0.05). After treatment, dysfunction scores in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment, and the score in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group, the difference being significant(P<0.05). Before treatment, there was no significant difference being found in comparisons of tenderness scores and VAS scores between the two groups(P>0.05). After treatment, tenderness scores and VAS scores in the two groups were significantly decreased when compared with those before treatment, and the two scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, the difference being significant(P<0.05). Conclusion: Warm acupuncture and moxibustion has a significant curative effect in the treatment of myofascitis of nape of wind-cold-dampness type, which can effectively improve functional activities, and relieve tenderness and pain.
