Abstract: Objectives: To observe the clinical effect of moxibustion at Shenque point(CV8) combined with abdominal tuina for functional abdominal distension. Methods:A total of 92 cases of patients with functional abdominal distension were randomly divided into the control group and the observation group, with 46 cases in each group. The control group was treated with mosapride citrate tablets and routine nursing, and the observation group was additionally treated with moxibustion at Shenque point(CV8) combined with abdominal tuina based on the treatment of the control group. Both groups were intervened for four weeks. Before and after treatment, the clinical effects, Gastrointestinal Symptom Rating Scale (GSRS) scores, abdominal circumferences and gastrointestinal transport function in the two groups were compared. Results: After treatment, the scores of GSRS in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P< 0.01);the scores of GSRS in the observation group was lower than that in the control group(P<0.01). After treatment, the abdominal circumference in the observation group was reduced when compared with that before treatment(P<0.01), and was smaller than that in the control group at the same period(P<0.01). The gastrointestinal transport function in the two groups was enhanced when compared with that before treatment, and the function in the observation group was better than that in the control group(P<0.01). The total effective rate was 86.96% in the observation group, higher than that of 65.22% in the control group, the difference being significant(P<0.05). Conclusion: The application of moxibustion at Shenque point (CV8) combined with abdominal tuina for functional abdominal distension can improve the gastrointestinal symptoms of patients and enhance their gastrointestinal transport function.
