Abstract： Objective： To observe the clinical effect of Jianpi Qingwei Guchi tang combined with ornidazole for chronic periodontitis. Methods：A total of 100 cases of patients with chronic periodontitis were selected and divided into the control group and the observation group according to the random number table method，50 cases in each group. The control group was treated with ornidazole，and the observation group was additionally treated with Jianpi Qingwei Guchi tang based on the treatment of the control group. Both groups were treated for four weeks. Clinical effects and adverse reactions in the two groups were compared；the levels of serum inflammatory factors，the proportions of aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans and porphyromonas gingivalis in mixed dental plaque，and Chinese medicine syndrome scores before and after treatment in the two groups were compared. Results：The total effective rate was 88.00% in the observation group，higher than that of 72.00% in the control group(P＜0.05). After treatment，the levels of C-reactive protein(CRP)，tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α) and interleukin- 6(IL- 6) in serum in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)， and the levels of CRP，TNF-α and IL-6 in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P＜0.05). After treatment，the proportions of aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans and porphyromonas gingivalis in mixed dental plaque in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)，and the proportion in the treatment group was lower than that in the control group(P＜0.05). After treatment，the scores of major and secondary symptoms in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)，and the scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P＜0.05). No obvious adverse reactions occurred in the two groups. Conclusion： The therapy of Jianpi Qingwei Guchi tang combined with ornidazole has a good clinical effect in treating chronic periodontitis， which can reduce the levels of serum inflammatory factors and the proportions of aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans and porphyromonas gingivalis in mixed dental plaque，regulate flora balance，and improve clinical symptoms with high safety.
