Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of modified Wendan tang combined with amlodipine sulfonate on senile hypertension of the syndrome of upward disturbance of phlegm-turbidity. Methods:A total of 40 elderly patients with hypertension of the syndrome of upward disturbance of phlegm- turbidity were randomly divided into the control group and the treatment group, 20 cases in each group. The control group was orally treated with amlodipine besylate tablets. The treatment group was additionally treated with modified Wendan tang based on the treatment of the control group. After fourweek treatment, the clinical therapeutic effect, blood pressure changes and adverse reactions in the two groups were compared and analyzed. Results: The total effective rate was 97.37% in the treatment group and 86.84% in the control group, the difference being significant(P<0.05). Before treatment, there was no significant difference in the comparison of diastolic blood pressure and systolic blood pressure between the two groups(P>0.05). After treatment, the diastolic blood pressure and systolic blood pressure in both groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05); the diastolic blood pressure and systolic blood pressure in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group(P< 0.05). The incidence of adverse reactions was 5.26% in the treatment group and 15.79% in the control group, the difference being significant(P<0.05). Conclusions: The therapy of modified Wendan tang combined with amlodipine sulfonate has significant effect on treating senile hypertension of the syndrome of upward disturbance of phlegm- turbidity, which can effectively improve the blood pressure and reduce the incidence of adverse reactions.
