Abstract：Objective：To observe the clinical effect of superficial needling therapy combined with Bushen Jiegu tang for fractures around the knee. Methods：A total of 106 cases of patients with fractures around the knee were randomly divided in the study group and the control group， 53 cases in each group. Both groups were treated with anatomical plate fixation. After operation，the study group was treated with superficial needling therapy combined with Bushen Jiegu tang，and the control group was treated with Huoxue Zhitong capsules. Both groups were continuously treated for four weeks. The clinical effect was evaluated in the two groups. Before and after treatment，scores of Visual Analogue Scale(VAS)，knee joint scale of Hospital for Special Surgery(HSS)， range of motion of joint(ROM)， and the 36- Item Short Form Survey(SF- 36) were compared between the two groups. Results： The total effective rate was 92.45% in the study group， and 79.25% in the control group，the difference being significant(P＜0.05). After treatment，scores of VAS in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)，and the score in the study group was lower than that in the control group(P＜0.05)；scores of HSS and ROM in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment(P＜ 0.05)，and the two scores in the study group were higher than those in the control group(P＜0.05). After treatment，scores of physical functioning，bodily pain，general health，social functioning，and role-emotional of SF-36 scale in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)，and the scores above in the study group were higher than those in the control group(P＜0.05). Conclusion： In the treatment of fractures around the knee， the therapy of superficial needling therapy combined with Bushen Jiegu tang can enhance the clinical effect，relieve pain，and improve the function of knee joint and quality of life.
