Abstract： Objective： To observe the clinical effect of medicated bath with Flos Lonicerae Japonicae combined with ribavirin for hand- foot- mouth disease (HFMD). Methods：A total of 88 cases of HFMD children were selected and divided into the control group and the treatment group according to the random number table method，44 cases in each group. The control group was treated with ribavirin， and the treatment group was additionally treated with medicated bath with Flos Lonicerae Japonicae based on the treatment of the control group. Both groups were treated for seven days. The total clinical effect and the disappearance time of clinical symptoms were compared between the two groups. Changes in interferon- γ (IFN- γ)，tumor necrosis factor- α(TNF- α)，interleukin- 6(IL- 6)，interleukin- 10 (IL- 10)，helper T cell CD4 +，cytotoxic T lymphocyte CD8 +，the ratio of CD4 + to CD8 +，immunoglobulin M (IgM)，immunoglobulin A (IgA)，and immunoglobulin G (IgG) before and after treatment were compared between the two groups. Results：After treatment，the total effective rate was 93.18% in the treatment group， and 72.73% in the control group， the difference being significant(P＜0.05). After treatment，the fever subsidence time，the disappearance time of hand- foot rash，the healing time of mouth ulcer in the treatment group were shorter than those in the control group， the difference being significant(P＜0.05). After treatment， levels of IFN- γ，TNF- α，IL- 6，IL- 10，and CD8 + in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)，and the five levels above in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group(P＜0.05). After treatment，levels of CD4+，CD4+/CD8+，IgM，IgA，and IgG in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)，and the five levels above in the treatment group were higher than those in the control group (P＜0.05). Conclusion： The therapy of medicated bath with Flos Lonicerae Japonicae combined with ribavirin has defined curative effect in the treatment of HFMD， which can significantly reduce levels of inflammatory factors， and improve immune function. Its curative effect is better than that of simple ribavirin.
