Abstract： This paper introduces Prof． YAO Xinmiao's clinical experience in treating primary osteoporosis by kidneytonifying and blood- invigorating method． YAO Xinmiao believed that the etiology and pathogenesis of this disease can be summarized as a sentence： "kidney deficiency is the root and cause of the disease， and blood stasis is the branch and result”．Its treatment should be kidney-tonifying and blood-invigorating method，and the prescription should be Yigu tang ． According to the clinical syndrome differentiation， other six methods can also be used， including spleen- fortifying and stomach- nourishing method，liver- soothing and constraint- resolving method，method of mutual rooting of yin and yang， dampness-dispelling and phlegm-dissolving method，blood-invigorating and breaking up method as well as wind-dispelling and impediment-eliminating method ．
