Clinical Study on Application of Modified Tongqiao Huoxue Tang at Yongquan Point in Adjuvant Therapy of Sudden Deafness with Syndrome of Qi Stagnation and Blood Stasis
Abstract:Objective:To observe the clinical effect of application of modified Tongqiao Huoxue tang at Yongquan point(LR 4) in adjuvant therapy of sudden deafness with syndrome of qi stagnation and blood stasis. Methods:A total of 62 cases of patients with sudden deafness who received treatment were divided into the control group and the treatment group according to the random number table method,31 cases in each group. The control group was given mecobalamin injection, mannitol injection, and vinpocetine injection. The treatment group was additionally given application of modified Tongqiao Huoxue tang at Yongquan point (LR 4) as an adjuvant therapy based on the treatment of the control group. After two-week continuous treatment, score of hearing loss, threshold value of hearing, recovery time of hearing, the clinical effect, as well as disappearance time of vertigo, tinnitus, and aural fullness, were compared between the two groups. Results: After treatment, scores of hearing loss and threshold values of hearing in the two groups were decreased(P<0.01); when compared with those in the control group, the score and threshold value in the treatment group were decreased more significantly(P<0.01).Recovery time of hearing as well as disappearance time of vertigo, tinnitus, and aural fullness in the treatment group was shorter than that in the control group(P<0.01). After treatment, the total effective rate was 93.55% in the treatment group, higher than that of 67.74% in the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion: For patients with sudden deafness with syndrome of qi stagnation and blood stasis, the application of modified Tongqiao Huoxue tang at Yongquan point (LR 4) as an adjuvant therapy on a basis of routine western medicinecan promote improvement of symptoms and signs, and improve the clinical effect.
