Abstract:Objective:To observe the clinical effect, pain and shoulder range of motion of acupuncture and moxibustion combined with extracorporeal shock wave for scapulohumeral periarthritis. Methods: A total of 180 cases of patients with scapulohumeral periarthritis were divided into the study group and the control group according to the random number table method,90 cases in each group. The control group was treated with extracorporeal shock wave, and the study group was additionally treated with acupuncture and moxibustion based on the treatment of the control group. Both groups were treated for two courses, one week being a course. Before and after treatment, the clinical effect, the University of California,Los Angeles(UCLA) Shoulder Score, the Short-Form McGill Pain Questionnaire(SF-MPQ) score and the shoulder range of motion were observed. Results:The total effective rate was 92.22% in the study group, higher than that of 76.67% in the control group(P<0.05). After treatment, the UCLA scores in the two groups were higher than those before treatment(P<0.05),and the score in the study group was higher than that in the control group(P<0.05). After treatment, the scores of SF- MPQ such as Pain Rating Index(PRI), Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) and Present Pain Intensity(PPI) and the total SF- MPQ scores in the two groups were lower than those before treatment(P<0.05),and the scores in the study group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).The range of motion of internal rotation, external rotation, abduction, flexion and adduction in shoulder joint in both groups were improved to a certain extent(P<0.05), and the improvement in the study group was greater than that in the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion: Acupuncture and moxibustion combined with extracorporeal shock wave for patients with scapulohumeral periarthritis can effectively improve shoulder joint function and range of motion, relieve pain and enhance clinical effect.
