Abstract:Triplostegia grandifolra is a kind of herbal medicine often used in the treatment of kidney diseases by Yunnan minorities,which was first published in Yunnan ZhongcaoYao Xuan. By referring to literature on herbs at previous dynasties, this paper systematically researched on and summarized Triplostegia grandifolra from the aspects of its origin, name, medical history,modern research and so on. The original plants of Triplostegia grandifolra are Triplostegia glandulifera Wall and Triplostegia grandiflora Gagnep,it belongs to deficiency-supplementing medicine,and is mainly used to treat deficiency constitution due to lingering diseases,kidney deficiency and lumbar pain,impotence,seminal emission,infertility,chronic cough,menstrual irregularities,and inverted menstruation. Its main components comprise iridoids,triterpenoids,alkaloid, and methyl caffeate,etc. It is speculated that it may have the functions of brain targeting,tumor inhibition,hypoglycemia, hypolipidemia,anti- ulceration,menstruation regulation,and improving body immunity,etc. As an ethno- medicine,the current clinical application of Triplostegia grandifolra is limited to folk experience,and clinical application data is lacking. A large number of experiments are needed to verify its effect in the future,so as to better develop and utilize the plant resources of Triplostegia grandifolra.
